Dear Patron,
Greetings from New Orleans Ballet Theatre! As we are coming to a close for our 2023-2024 season, we’d like to take a moment and reflect how our recent achievements would not have been possible without the gracious support of patrons like you. Your support has allowed us to expand significantly and further solidify our place as the premier ballet company in New Orleans and beyond. As you know, consistent financial support is the life-blood of an organization that aims for outstanding artistic quality, and I hope we can count on you.
Though NOBT was first established as a pick-up company for seasonal work, its long-term plan has always been to shift to a full-time company. In NOBT’s landmark 2019-2020 season, the company was delighted to have five full-time resident dancers on contract and present its first full season of concert dance. Now 4 years later, NOBT proudly boasts 15 company members and an expanded trainee program with 11 artists. Having a resident company has been our goal since our inception, and having realized our dream, we look forward to continue sharing the amazing talent and work of these uniquely gifted artists here in our city.
Now in our 21st year of bringing excellent concert dance to New Orleans and beyond, NOBT has had an ambitious and exciting line-up of programming: We kicked off the season with free community performances Oct. 13th-14th at the UNO Amphitheater, followed by 8 performances of the Nutcracker this past December at the Orpheum Theater, followed by an incredible Back to Balanchine program in March 2024, featuring “Concerto Barocco” and “Serenade”, two of Balanchine’s most famous works, and we will end the season with a brand new production of Dracula, choreographed by Oliver Halkowich this May 11th-12th.
We ask today, if you are able, to make a contribution in any amount to help support New Orleans Ballet Theatre. As the only professional classical ballet company in New Orleans, we owe it to our community to continue to produce excellent art. We strongly believe that audience members of all ages are educated, energized, and changed by access to thoughtful, high-quality concert dance. Your contribution will help launch NOBT into its next 20 years of growth, inspiring a new generation of artists and patrons with innovative works.
Sincerely,
Gregory Schramel, Artistic Director
